Why Hand-Tied Crappie Jigs Still Matter

In a world full of mass-produced fishing tackle, there’s still something different about a hand-tied jig.
At Junior’s Jigs LLC, every jig is tied by hand — one at a time — right here in Missouri. No overseas factories. No bulk-imported “custom” baits. Just real materials, proven color combinations, and years of time on the water behind every pattern.
A lot of today’s tackle is built to look good hanging on a shelf. I build mine to catch fish.
Built by Hand. Proven on the Water.
That slogan isn’t just something I threw on a logo.
Every color pattern I offer has either been tested by me, tested by customers, or proven by guides and tournament anglers across lakes like Truman, Stockton, Pomme de Terre, Smithville, and beyond.
From signature colors like WonderBread, Bleeding Shad, Disco Nights, and Smokey Shad, to custom orders built specifically for local conditions, the goal is always the same:
Create a jig that gives anglers confidence when they hit the water.
Why Hand-Tied Makes a Difference
A hand-tied jig simply holds up better.
Compared to many mass-produced soft plastics or machine-tied jigs, hand-tied materials pulse naturally in the water and keep their profile longer. The thread wraps are tighter, the material placement is cleaner, and the durability is hard to beat.
That matters when you’re trying to put crappie, bass, or walleye in the boat consistently.
A lot of anglers also don’t realize how much detail goes into choosing the right combination of:
Hook style
Hair type
Flash amount
Color layering
Head size
Fall rate
Those small details can completely change how a bait performs.
More Than Just a Hobby
Junior’s Jigs LLC is a real business built from a passion for fishing and craftsmanship.
Between railroad shifts, late nights, road trips, and time spent at the vise, this company has grown through hard work and support from anglers across the country. Seeing orders ship out to places all over the U.S. still means a lot.
And the best part?
Hearing customer stories about fish catches, tournaments, guide trips, and memories made using something I tied by hand.
Thank You
Whether you’ve bought one jig or one hundred, thank you for supporting a small American business.
Your support helps keep craftsmanship alive in the fishing industry.
And trust me — there’s a lot more coming.
Built by hand. Proven on the water.
